How do I get to and from the camps?

For those coworkers who come from the lower 48, we offer a season completion travel reimbursement. Look for more information under TRAVEL.

Once in Fairbanks, we will help you arrange initial transportation to camp. Be prepared to spend 1 to 3 nights in Fairbanks. Hostels are around $20/night and hotels can range from $90-$200/night. We can provide information on local hotels and hostels upon request.

For your exit from camp after successful completion of the season, we will help arrange transportation back to Fairbanks. It is important to realize in this remote region that air and ground service may be limited. Plan ahead by giving our Fairbanks office at least one week notice.

How do I cash my paychecks?

Checks are issued every two weeks and sent from the Fairbanks office to each of the camps where they are distributed to coworkers. Most coworkers mail paychecks to their hometown bank for deposit. It is important that you bring extra deposit slips, envelopes, stamps and your bank's mailing address.

Can I access internet in camp?

COLDFOOT CAMP - Internet is available on one coworker computer located in the cafe office. An additional ethernet cable is available in the office for coworkers to connect a personal laptop to the internet.

What can I expect the weather to be when I am in camp? Summer can bring a myriad of temperatures to Northern Alaska. From mid-May through mid-September, temperatures can range from 40 - 85 Fahrenheit (4 -30 Celsius). Occasional rain and light snow showers can occur early and late in the season.

Winter in Alaska's Arctic is, at times, impressively cold. Expect temperatures as low as -45 Fahrenheit or colder. The extreme cold can be fun when dealt with appropriately. Humans have been dealing with cold temperatures for thousands of years and to date some of the best advice on dealing with extreme cold comes from the Inupiat People of the North Coast who believe the best way to deal with the cold is simply  to "take care not to be cold." Can I bring my pet(s)?

Pets may not be kept in coworker rooms. Pets are not allowed inside any buildings, tents or vehicles. Authorization for pets to be kept outdoors at any of the three camps is handled on a case-by-case basis.
